What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra is a practice which takes us beyond our minds – into blissful awareness. We can journey beyond the mind and enter the witness consciousness which is resting in stillness, watching all that rises and falls in the mind, body and emotions with a detached awareness, non-judgemental attitude and pure clarity. Clarity is the best way I can describe nidra. Clarity is a state of consciousness which we all have, which exists beyond the thoughts and feelings. During a practice of yoga nidra you will be guided to access this state of consciousness, and this happens by something called ‘entrainment’. Entrainment is the slowing down of the brain frequencies by an external influence such as yoga nidra and sound healing.
Brain Frequencies
Many people live their lives with minds constantly in Gamma and Beta functioning. This is highly stressful and can cause illness in the body.
Alpha is a desirable state for restful awareness which allows some restoration of mind, body, emotions and tissues, organs, cells.
Yoga Nidra can take you to… Theta and Delta where the mind is still and you can receive pure clarity and insight,

YOGA
Yoga is a state of eternal blissfulness which comes from uniting with your true self. Yoga is when the Divine Source externally and within yourself become one. It is the union of your higher self, human self and Divine Source, in perfect harmonious alignment. Yoga is when you are receiving guidance from Divine Source in every moment. It is when you are completely surrendered and no longer just a human. The ego has gone and all that remains is an empty space to receive Divine Guidance.
Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind, and once this has been attained – then the human becomes a receiving vehicle for Divine Source to flow through.
NIDRA
Nidra is sleeping consciously. It is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind (as in yoga). Nidra is a state of awareness between awake and asleep. It is a space in which we can hover, with conscious awareness of the human self (mind,body,emotions) and the superconscious self (ever present stillness, witnessing consciousness, non judgmental and non attached self). Nidra is a state of consciousness beyond mind. It is something to be experienced, to be known, felt and practiced regularly. When practiced regularly this ‘nidra’ state can be accessed anytime very easily.
