About Hayley Shaw
Yoga is an incredibly vast tradition with a great deal to offer. My passion is in sharing these teachings with you, as they were once shared with me.
Being A Yogini
I have been a yoga practitioner since 2006 studying and practicing in Akhanda Yoga and other styles and traditions that have resonated with me along the way. I practice the teachings of Ashtanga Yoga and Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras also. These teachings give us guidelines to live in greater harmony with ourselves, others and the environment around us. To practice yoga is to practice the teachings on all levels; mental, energetic, emotional and physical, with continuous awareness of self.
At first, I found that I had to practice the teachings with continuous awareness and great discipline, and now the yogic lifestyle has become a natural way of living for me. I continue to practice awareness of self to aid my spiritual growth and just be a good human! Yoga is actually a practice for the mind you see the purpose of postures is to improve flexibility to enable us to sit comfortably in meditation. It’s not about showing how much you can bend in all directions! It is my mission to share with you what it really is and what it can do for you!
Becoming a Yoga Teacher
I received my certification to teach Akhanda Yoga in 2014 at the Anand Prakash Yoga Ashram, Rishikesh, North India. This practice has been the foundation for my yoga journey and greatly shaped the way I teach. It has its roots in Kundalini practices and its main aim is to revive the ancient tantric wisdom of Ha Tha Yoga. I am also influenced by Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, Womb Yoga and Yoga Nidra. Still, I stay true to the practice of Akhanda Yoga as I have and I continue to experience the happiness and healing that it brings.
A bit more
After years of planning and wishing for something that I didn’t have, to make me feel whole, complete and happy, I came to realise that the only place that happiness exists is in the present moment! I stopped chasing and learnt to be present with myself by practicing the teachings of yoga. Yoga is an incredibly vast tradition with a great deal to offer. My passion is in sharing these teachings with you, as they were once shared with me.
The journey of Yoga has led me to living in alignment with my dharma (life purpose/mission) which I am supremely grateful for. Finding your unique path of truth is extremely liberating and once you are on it, life becomes lighter, more joyful, free flowing, abundant and you feel very blessed.
My aim is to guide you back to your very own unique and wonderful path of self realisation.
